  • St Marco Basin

This is a private tour to have the opportunity to see the partial solar (sun) eclipse and will also showcase some of the highlights that are close to the main part of the ancient city. You have the boat for your group only and the tour can be customized to your wishes (of course within the 3 hr time limit).

5075 Fondamente Nove, Venezia, Veneto, Italy

On August 12th you will have in Venice the opportunity to see a partial solar eclipse. Just before sunset the moon will cover the sun by about 95% and will give guests a unique sunset. All guests will also receive special glasses to be able to safely observe this spectacular moment.

On this tour we will start on one side of the city, St Marco or Fte Nove, and in a half circular path go around the ancient part of the city of Venice while picking the best spot to watch the eclipse.

Of course we can not guarantee that mother nature plays along and that the sky will be clear at sunset to see the eclipse.

The Pick-Up point will be either Fte Nove or close to St Marco Square. This will be agreed to before the tour with the guests.

Drop-Off point will be the opposite of the pickup spot.

If pickup is at Fte Nove then drop-off will be St Marco Square and if pickup is St Marco Square then Drop-off is at Fte Nove.

Depending on the time of the year wear appropriate clothing. The boat is an open vessel without a cabin so you are in the open.
During colder days we suggest a warm and windproof jacket, and during the hotter days a hat and sun screen lotion to protect from the hot sun.
While out on the water the temperature will normally feel a little cooler.
We do have a Sun Shade during the summer months and blankets for the colder days on board.

We have a cooler on board with water, other beverages and also a selection of snacks.

Any entry fees, gratuities and meals are not included.

Because of local regulations, we as a tour operator, are not allowed on the canals inside the the city of Venice. Stella, a traditional Venice sailing vessel, wouldn't be able to fit inside the city canals because with the sailing masts we don't fit under the bridges.

Arrive 10 minutes before the departure time.

Please be aware that this is a traditional fishing boat and is not a modern vessel with all kinds of amenities.
This means that there are no bathroom facilities on board and getting on and off the boat might require the guests to make bigger steps up or down depending on the water levels at the time and also there might be a gap between the shore and boat to step over. We will always do our best to make it as easy as possible for everyone.

Cancelations for this special tour are not possible even if there is a cloudy day and the eclipse might not be seen.

The captain will evaluate the weather and if there will be heavy rain or thunder then he could cancel the tour but even with a cloudy sky the tour will go forward at the scheduled time.
